As you all know, the economy has hit our community and all of us personally very hard. The church is no exception to that and giving is down, as you would expect. But, you need to know that through your gracious giving, we are able to keep the day to day expenses of the church paid for... The air conditioning, utilities, insurance and maintenance. The Administrative Council met Tuesday, July 28, and $23,000 was cut out of the current 2009 budget. Duck Church has been blessed in the past with the ability to maintain a reserve fund. Some may call it a rainy day fund. We think of it more as a disaster relief fund. Currently, in order meet our Mission giving goals for 2009, we will be using a large amount of those funds. The council is also looking into other more significant ways to cut the budget, since $23,000 isn’t near enough. But before we make those cuts to the 2009 and/or 2010 budgets, it was suggested that we reach out to our congregation and our returning visitors and humbly ask for help. This effort we are calling “Seven Weeks of Giving.” Through the first four weeks we have raised $25,484. Thank you for your giving. In your bulletins you will find a special offering envelope for the seven weeks of giving. If you are able to assist us in meeting our 2009 mission giving goals, we encourage you to do so. We fully understand if you can’t. The special offering envelopes will be in the bulletins for one more Sunday, or you can mail your offering to the church marked Seven Weeks of Giving.
